About Lori

Hi! This is Lori Young inviting you to enjoy my music, in both English and Spanish, that has been written for people just like you.

Con todo mi cariño ... and with all of my love.

Lori English Young, an avid singer/songwriter, who writes both in English and Spanish, was raised in a small town in Montana. Lori's music has literally inspired people in many different parts of the world, such as Greece, Spain, Costa Rica, the Canary Islands, Mexico, from Alaska to Hawaii and about half of the other states in the US.

This quiet spoken lady with an effervescent spirit has sung to the poorest of the poor, all the way to the featured entertainer at the Crystal Palace of Arguezuela, (Madrid). She was also invited as the only foreigner to sing at the Flamenco Festival of San Fernando, Spain. The Spaniards were amazed to hear a song written about flamenco music by an American. (This song is recorded on her Alabanzas de España CD).

When Lori was growing up, she never dreamed that she would become a recording artist. She began to write songs at age 17 but never planned on singing them to anyone. A few years later she was asked to sing one of her songs in public. Even though she was incredibly shy, she realized, what's the use of writing music if they all stay in a notebook? So with knees shaking and voice quivering, she made her stage debut. Several years later, a music producer from Nashville heard her music and opened the door for her to record her first album. Lori and her husband Tom cut and split firewood to pay for the trip and recording. The album did so well, she was back to Nashville 11 months later.

Lori and Tom's heart for humanitarian service continued to grow. Just when Lori's music was taking off, in 1990, this couple, now with three children walked away to serve others overseas. Not only experiencing a language change, (making Lori's music in English obsolete in her eyes) Lori would then become seriously ill while living in the Canary Islands. The worst part of this illness would last several years, greatly affecting her voice, breathing, and strength. She thought she would never record again, but little did she know that from 1996-2003, she would experience God's blessings upon her with the most prolific years of recording and musical performances of her life. Six CD's were recorded in Madrid, (3 in Spanish and 3 in English.) Lori was even given her own radio musical show entitled, "La Mujer de Montana," (The Lady from Montana).

In 2004, the Young's returned to the United States and could see that for now, they needed to stay in the U.S. Lori did record an album, DANCE IN THE WIND, a CD with great songs and music, but while living in a small town in Montana, there just wasn't the opportunity to use her musical gifts. She needed to help with family finances, so she again walked away and began to teach High School Spanish. She thought music was something from the past but Tate Music Group from Oklahoma City asked her to become one of their artists. Together, they have released her 10th album, LOVIN' COUNTRY.

This lady with an international heart is unique in so many ways! Not only does she have her own musical style, she also has expanded to sing a wide variety of musical genres. Her music is so diversified that Lori's venues have consisted of cultural centers, the Montana Legislature, political dinners, Veterans events, schools, Rotary lunches, weddings, a convent, prisons, a discotheque , rehabilitation centers, Protestant and Catholic churches, mission conventions, concerts in the park, music festivals, television, and radio.
